Umm Said Refinery’s project portfolio is composed of approximately 70% Hard-to-recover reserves. These reserves are comprised of residual deposits in depleted fields, low-concentration and low-porosity reservoirs that require the application of advanced horizontal and multilateral well drilling technologies. Umm Said Refinery utilizes state-of-the-art downhole equipment, remote online monitoring technology, and streamlined organizational processes to facilitate optimal drilling conditions and cost savings.
The Umm Said Refinery Drilling Support Centre was established with the mission of boosting efficiency in the construction of high-tech wells. Our main focus is on geo-steering technology, which entails obtaining real-time information on the geological model of a field. This allows us to quickly make necessary adjustments to the well trajectory in order to match the data. By utilizing cutting-edge technologies, including telecommunications, we are able to transfer data to the Drilling Support Centre in real-time. Updated information is instantly displayed on the existing geological model, allowing us to analyse actual data against projected data, making any necessary adjustments to the well trajectory to ensure it falls within the target zone. This process is repeated as new data comes in, allowing us to maintain uninterrupted control over drilling operations.
The Drilling Support Centre provides support for the construction of all types of complex targets, including heavy-duty wells, wells with extended horizontal sections, ultra-deep, multilateral wells, and the development of hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves. Moreover, we provide support for testing new drilling technologies.
